Who’s Who: Horace of the Bruton Coven

Horace and Jude took advantage of the hippie movement in the sixties and seventies to travel the world. Because he’s well-travelled, Horace has learned Hindi, Tamil, Urdu, and German, and he’s a member of the International Language Club.

We also created flyers and questionnaires to inform students and get them thinking about their home environments. Questions like, “Are there times when you feel unsafe in your home?” or “Is there someone in your home that you are scared to be alone with?” I lost count of how many flyers and questionnaires I handed out last Thursday, but by Friday I had a ton of students come up and ask me about the halfway house. I never realized how many colonial kids were going through situations similar to what we went through as the children of bandits. I want to give them all a chance to feel safe, to give them all a home to feel welcome and loved.

Reflections, part 1

It was square, with no partitions or bracings. The window hovered ahead without the help of a wall, and a dim light spilled through the glass, a dusty bone-white glow that fell off the bottom of the window like a waterfall at the edge of the world. I had expected the light to stretch on for eternity, but the emptiness swallowed the rays. Captured them.

Snuffed them out.

He’s passionate about wildlife conservation and the environment, particularly the vulnerable state of snow leopards, which are considered to be the least aggressive to humans of all big cats and yet are often poached for their skin and body parts.

A serious, kind man with a gentle soul and a merciless fist. He and Jump teach their daughters as much as they can about whatever they take an interest in, be it making jewelry, martial arts, videogames, pranks, and even dancing.
