Last but not least, here’s the final member of the Semes Tribe: Marilyn Hart, the heart of the Phebean demons.

Three facts about Marilyn:
- Marilyn was one of the only two spirits Dane was looking to recruit in Savannah. Everyone else was just a bonus in his eyes.
- She’s creative and dives into her craft creations. She and Tawni collaborated on tracking bracelets for the entire tribe.
- After watching her parents’ relationship self-destruct over the course of her childhood, Mair had all but given up on love. Then she found Dane on her front porch, and the rest was history.
My thoughts on Mair:
Marilyn is a sweet young woman with a sad upbringing. Her parents weren’t abusive or anything; both loved and cared for her in their own way. However, they didn’t extend that same affection toward each other. She watched their tumultuous relationship spiral downward as the years passed until their neighbors begged them to split up. The two separated when Marilyn was twelve and were both equally present in her life until her father died on a scouting mission four years later. This gave Marilyn a jaded view on border defense and scouts in general, causing a rift between her and then-lover Kent, who aspired to protect his people. Dane has helped her overcome this a great deal, as he fights on the front lines with his tribe every day.
She quite literally found the chief of the Semes Tribe on her doorstep one evening. She and Walter, her emotionally and sexually abusive boyfriend, had gotten into a huge fight at her mother’s place when she stormed out–and into Dane’s arms. The enigmatic teenager told her to stay put as he strolled inside and casually knocked Walter on his ass before dragging him outside and telling him to never come back. Monty and Tony, who were waiting nearby while Dane recruited Mair, heard some of the altercation between the two humans before Dane stepped in, and though neither of them have admitted it, they both respected the chief for butting in where they couldn’t due to the council’s rules.
When Marilyn first awakened and recalled her soul mate bond with Dane, she tried to fight the connection she felt with him. He was very patient while she moved out of Savannah and acclimated herself to life as a demon; they didn’t even kiss for the first two and a half months after her recruitment until Marilyn, who had been felt the bond build swiftly over time, took the initiative. He’s his gentlest when she’s around to tame his sarcastic wit.
She knows all of his secrets–all of them. Even the identity of the other spirit he was searching for in Savannah. However, she pretended not to know like the rest of the tribe so as to avoid lying to her friends. One person she has a particularly difficult time lying to is Kent, who has been questioning her mate’s leadership more and more. She and Dane have never been happier, but she can’t help but feel as if things are about to take a turn.
