Three facts about Harry:

  1. He was born and raised in Mecca, a farming and fishing colony to the north of the Salton Sea. His parents owned a farm and traded at the local market.
  2. He hadn’t even seen a computer or mobile phone until after he joined the court. His parents were rather old fashioned.
  3. Harry likes Pixie… And it looks like she likes him, too.

My thoughts on Harry:

Harry can relate to Pixie’s sheltered upbringing because he, too, was sheltered as a kid. His parents were older–they were in their forties when they had their miracle baby–and they were mostly old fashioned. (Remember: old fashioned for them is, like, now.) Harry learned the basics of education, but his parent’s focus was teaching their son how to manage their farm. He learned to do everything; care for the livestock, harvest the crops, haggle with other traders at the market… But in time, Harry came to want more from life than simply working on a farm. He felt something deep inside pulling him away.

Harry was only eighteen when both of his parents fell ill. They passed away over the next year, leaving the burden of the farm to their only son. They had no other family that Harry knew of, so Harry had to make a choice: manage the farm for the rest of his days, or go out into the world. He chose the latter.

The young man reached out to another local farmer and traded his parents’ land and livestock for a pickup truck, a surplus of fuel, and enough weapons to scare off a small group of bandits. He kept most of the crops for himself, trading them in other colonies as he travelled north. He had no destination in mind, no set plan. He was simply relishing his freedom.

When he arrived in Boulder City, he was met with a large group of bandits. They would have gunned him down if not for Ethan and the court, who came to his rescue. Harry was recruited to their cause, and his ability was realized within a week.

Prior to the events of Aquarius, Harry never thought much of Jeremy. He wasn’t sure what to make of the rumors spoken by the other courtsmen, but he was certain of one thing: the psychic always reported nearby bandit incidents to the prince, so his recruitment was all thanks to Jeremy.

For those of you who don’t know, Harry is a supporting character in my trilogy Saturn Rising, which is the first installment of The Chronicles of Life & Death. The first book, Aquarius, is available now on Amazon as an e-book and paperback. You can even read it all for free with Kindle Unlimited! Learn more here.
