The time has finally come to discuss this complicated man. Today is Matteo Alagona’s birthday, and we’re going to go into his relationship with Mona and Monty.

Three facts about Matteo:
- Since he and Christian are the same age, he’s the last Elder to become prince before he turned thirty. He met his wife a few years after his reign.
- He can be creative when it comes to daring plans and risky maneuvers–and art. Matteo is a talented realistic sketch artist and painter.
- He misses having Mona around the house. He still keeps her old art hanging in his study.
My thoughts on Matteo:
Matteo is a strong yet conflicted man. On the one hand, he trusts his son, the sitting prince, to make the right decisions. On the other hand, the council listens to his prophetic sister–and she’s saying they’ll have to make a change soon. That they’re close to joining the mission, but not quite there yet.
He’s a serious man who genuinely loves Mona and Monty, and he’s tough on both of them, but he tends to coddle Mona when it comes to her safety. Her recruitment to the Semes Tribe devastated him–not because she’s now a demon, but because she was no longer under the protection of the court. He and Zenobia miss her every day, though Monty keeps them posted.
Matteo bears no ill will toward Karia–in fact, he’s happy to see his son take an interest in someone he didn’t create. Monty reminds the elder of his father.
For those of you who don’t know, Matteo is a supporting character in my trilogy Saturn Rising, which is the first installment of The Chronicles of Life & Death. The first book, Aquarius, is available now on Amazon as an e-book and paperback. You can even read it all for free with Kindle Unlimited! Learn more here.
