Double birthday time!

While there’s only one set of twins in the Iuppiter Court, double birthdays tend to happen in a group of this size. That being said, we’ll start today’s birthdays off with the eldest of the two: Samuel Palladino!

Three facts about Sam:

Despite being one of the strongest fighters of the court, Sam has never held a rank. Warriors don’t sit on the throne.
Sal and Sam have been best friends since before they could walk. Sal has named Sam the godfather of his soon-to-be born child.
He’s loyal to Monty, but he has to do as the council decides. The Jovians have no choice.

My thoughts on Sam:

The angels are all recruited at a young age so as to begin their training as soon as possible. They don’t attend the human boarding school, but their education is largely the same–it just includes information on spirit activity that took place during significant historical moments (The Great Spirit War during World War II, for instance). Because of this, the angels are usually ostracized from humans their age until they’re either crowned or patrolling the border. Sam actually didn’t meet Brigida, one of the border scouts, until Frankie’s reign–and even then, the two took things slow as they eased into each other’s lives. They hang out with Sal and Micaela often. When Sam isn’t patrolling the border or training, he’s shooting hoops with his brother.

The Jovians were only briefly featured in Aquarius, but they’ll play a larger role in the trilogy that follows Saturn Rising.
