If you could instantly master any skill, what would it be and why?

You read the title correctly. If I were to master any skill, it would be to learn any language. Not to learn language instantly or already know it instinctually, but to be able to learn a new language in an adequate amount of time, in spite of my ADHD. Knowing a second language is useful in a variety of circumstances. For starters, if I could learn Spanish, I would be able to communicate with my stepfather without issue. I could carry on private conversations with my grandmother in public. I would be able to visit Miami without fear of dealing with someone who doesn’t speak English.

Now imagine being bilingual, but also being able to learn new languages. Maybe not to the point of fluency, but just enough to get by. I could listen in on my Vietnamese nail techs, overhear as a couple of Haitian passengers on the bus gossip in Creole, and I could watch the original dubs of anime and K-dramas without subtitles. The possibilities are endless!

If I could master the skill of learning any language, I would be able to travel without issue or fear of getting lost. I would be able to converse with literally anyone. What more could an American Idiot ask for?
