My Happy Song

Daily writing prompt
What’s a song that always puts you in a good mood?

One song that never fails to improve my mood and get me thinking, “I can do this!” is a Matchbox Twenty song that really flew under the radar. They came out with a new album, Where The Light Goes, in 2023, and the second song of the album is Wild Dogs (Running in a Slow Dream). It’s a certified banger, a bop, really makes you want to get up and move around.

It’s a shame that this album doesn’t have the recognition it deserves. With other great songs, such as Rebels, you would think old and new fans would flock to this. This is my call to action for you, reader: if you haven’t already, pull up this album and give it a listen! It’s only a dozen songs, just a little over forty minutes of your time, and I swear it will be worth it.

It starts upbeat with Friends, with Wild Dogs keeping up that rising energy. Softer ballads with strong messages, such as Rebels, lead into heartfelt One Hit Love. The title track, Where the Light Goes, is a combination of bittersweet lyrics and Matchbox Twenty’s typical upbeat tempo. I’m telling you, this entire album is worth a listen! If you feel your time is too precious for more than just one song, however, then Wild Dogs is highly recommended.

Have you heard this album before? What are your thoughts on it?

Thanks for reading!

Simply my signature in my own handwriting. Reads, "Natasha Penn" in horrible cursive, followed by a heart.
A series of white and gold lights out of focus, casting overlapping circles against a dark background. Text overlays that reads, "Want updates on the latest blogs? Further down are the logos for Twitter and Reddit with the username "nattypenn," and just beneath that is the Instagram logo with the username "nattypennwastaken."
