A heart to heart between sisters
The angel’s promise
She found her gaze wandering over to the prince. He looked uncharacteristically serious as he discussed his plans to liberate bandit children, his eyes dark and determined. His face was more defined than she remembered, and the distance between his shoulders could easily fit two of her. His aura was shifting, floating around him as if it had a mind of its own.
The Council of Elders had divided into two groups; Mona and Monty’s father was huddled together with a few other older men, carrying on a conversation in hushed voices. The second group, situated between them and the first, consisted of Sal, a woman, and three men. The woman had her left arm linked with that of one of the other council members, and she was speaking to the former prince with a stern tone that contradicted her gleeful smile.

He cackled as he caught her, holding her tightly. “If you’re going to do this every time you see me, then I might extend our ‘ride home’ deal.”
“Promise?” she whispered into his neck. He tensed and set her down, running his fingers through his hair as he caught her gaze. His cheeks were the shade of strawberries, and her own grew warm as she realized that she had done all of that in front of her friends.
