Originally, these twins were created to be part of a tragic and heart-breaking battle, pitted against one another by the chief that was and the chief that could have been. As I work on their characters, molding them and this story around them, I find there's no way to avoid a sad story or an unhappy ending. Not everyone in TCoLD gets what they want or need, and not every villain will receive their just desserts.
There's an important message I want to convey about the idea of everlasting true love, and TCoLD is my medium. Alas, once I realized that not everyone needed a romantic counterpart, I put away my Cupid cosplay and stopped playing matchmaker.
Freeze doesn't feel an attachment to anyone except his tribe and his dog, Doloris. He protects the Northern Piikáni with pride and vigilance, and will even travel to the Southern Piikáni to lend aid. He has a fear of heights and spiders, and enjoys watching anime.
Dash was looking out for Bash even before either of them discovered their abilities. Their mother was unable to care for them for most of their childhood due to chronic illness, so Dash did her best to fill in while their father looked after their mom.
It may be time to call it quits...
Shade and Dream's relationship is my favorite among all the members of Wave Three. Neither of them is particularly goofy or silly, but they have the best comedic timing with those closest to them, especially each other. They were close even before Dream discovered her telepathy, and they've only grown closer over time.
Bash was recruited to the tribe when she was eleven; Dash had been a member for a few years when she came home one day from scouting the border and saw the potential in her baby sister's soul. She brought Bash to Chief Hex, who awakened her spirit and took her under her wing.
Kill and Hex, like most couples who grew up on the reservation, met when they were very young--however, neither one expressed any romantic interest in the other until their final year at the colonial secondary school, making them high school sweethearts. The two were already an established couple by the time they were awakened as demons.
Whisper and Ash's three kids are Erma, Jolee, and Barley--18, 14, and 10. They help their parents out on the farm and the older two watch over the other Poseidean children. They practice silencing their mental presence and meditation in order to grant their mother the peace she deserves.
He's a joker and a bit of a schemer; he's young at heart, yet wise beyond his years. Many of Attack's peers seek out his advice on various topics. They know that if he can't help them find clarity, then there's a good chance that Nail can.
